What’s the Weather Like in Cannon Beach in the Spring

Many consider spring one of the best seasons to vacation in Cannon Beach. Color returns, the town starts to awaken, and the vibes are just right. While the spring months are warmer than winter, it’s best to prepare for the change in temperatures. Pack plenty of layers because you may find yourself in a sweater in the morning, but a t-shirt in the afternoons. A rain jacket is also a good idea for those rainy spring days on the coast!

  • March: Highs in the mid 50s and lows averaging around 39

Spring Activities in Cannon Beach

  • Whale Watching: Prime whale watching in Cannon Beach and the Oregon Coast is from mid-March to early April. Gray whales, the most common species to see on the Oregon Coast, make their way to warmer waters, giving you the opportunity of a lifetime to spot them during their passage. Favorite whale watching spots include Ecola State Park at Clatsop Loop Trail, or make the trek to Depoe Bay, OR, for prime whale watching.
  • Bird Watching: Spring is the perfect season for bird watching in Cannon Beach, especially if your goal is to see tufted puffins who return to Haystack in April to breed. You’ll also get a chance to see American Robins and Red-winged Blackbirds.
  • Admire Colorful Blooms: Take the time to stop and smell the flowers on your Oregon Coast vacation! Spring brings life back to the coast, with flowers blooming on hiking trails, the beach, and in town. You’re likely to come across wild cucumber blooms, hydrangeas, daisies, and plenty more.
